Product Focus: Metallic Marbles, Versital

Veristal have launched their Metallic Marbles collection, a range comprising of three brand new metallic and marble-inspired finishes. The collection is the first of its kind, mixing the classic marble look with gold, copper and silver.

The collection features three stunning colours: Copper Stratos blends a backdrop of white marble with statement metallic copper veining; Gold Stratos incorporates high quality gold veining for an opulent finish; whilst Silver Stratos completes this on-trend trio with a modern and contemporary look.

Design Insider took a closer look at Metallic Marbles with Head of Development Gemma Stockberger exploring the inspiration behind the collection,

What inspired you to explore metallic’s, and mix them with the classic marble?

White marble has been a popular trend over the last few years, but I was conscious that I wanted to offer something different and more forward thinking.  I had also noticed (and become a little bit obsessed with!) the copper and rose gold trend seen in home interiors and hospitality, coupled with the geometric trend. A lot of bars and restaurants I had visited were using beautiful warm copper accents and details to create beautiful bars.  I thought it would be amazing to be able to create a marble that had the metallic copper element within the pattern itself.

When I started to research it, I found that no one else was actually offering anything like the vision I had in my heads, so I knew we had to develop it! I just knew it would be something people would love! Over many months we experimented with different metallic elements, powders, filings, glitters and so on to try and replicate the look I was wanting to achieve. After much development and lots of interesting discoveries of what would not work with our materials, we tried a mica pigment powder that can only be bought in from the states.

We have experimented with it before to great affect, but not within the matrix of the material itself.   The results were amazing! Exactly the look we were going for!As well as copper, we have also seen Gold making a resurgence and has actually gone on to be the most popular of the new finishes we offer.  Chrome and silver is always a popular choice, so we included this in the initial range to be offered.

The surfaces can be used for any of the products we manufactured.  I had initially envisaged them being very popular for hospitality which they have been, but had not appreciated how much the domestic market would also love the finishes.  The product was only launched pfficially a few weeks ago, but we have already had a number of orders from commercial and domestic clients for a range of different products, including panels, Bar tops, table tops and shower trays.

With white marble being such a popular finish for lots of clients we wanted to start with the combination of that and the metallic elements first, and then move on to other colour ways.  We are now looking to develop a dark brown and copper combination, with our finish Wenge mixed with copper or gold. We are also excited to create a combination of Turquois and copper for a striking finish.
