Since 2000 Pantone Colour Institute have dictated what the colour of the year will be, the colour that is selected is supposed express what is taking place in a global vision. Purple is described as being magical and is supposed to entice us in, draw us in. It is also the colour of creativity and this is why Pantone have made this exciting choice.

brilliant choice, very 80’s, and although probably not intentional a nice nod to William Perkins who invented the very first synthetic dye which just happend to be mauve – or radiant orchid if you need a fancy name.
