In our latest conversation, we look beyond the commercial sector to draw fresh inspiration, this time from German designer Justus Hilfenhaus, whose stripped-back, hyper-local approach reminds us that great design often starts with what’s already around us.

“Everything was designed, developed, and produced within the school — using the workshops, collaborating with technicians, and relying on what was already available.”

Justus’ recent project embraced the tools, materials, and community of ECAL to create practical, well-crafted objects that enhance shared spaces without shouting for attention.

It’s a compelling reminder for our industry: Refined functionality, resourcefulness, and collaboration are timeless design values — and innovation doesn’t always require reinvention. Sometimes it starts by looking closer to home 👉 Click on the direct lnk in our stories, or select the People tab on our website homepage, link in bio!
