In our latest conversation, we look beyond the commercial sector to draw fresh inspiration, this time from German designer Justus Hilfenhaus, whose stripped-back, hyper-local approach reminds us that great design often starts with what’s already around us.

“Everything was designed, developed, and produced within the school — using the workshops, collaborating with technicians, and relying on what was already available.”

Justus’ recent project embraced the tools, materials, and community of ECAL to create practical, well-crafted objects that enhance shared spaces without shouting for attention.

It’s a compelling reminder for our industry: Refined functionality, resourcefulness, and collaboration are timeless design values — and innovation doesn’t always require reinvention. Sometimes it starts by looking closer to home 👉 Click on the direct lnk in our stories, or select the People tab on our website homepage, link in bio!

Design Insider interviewed Lisa Cluer, speaking from Windsor Castle shortly after meeting His Majesty King Charles III, to mark Inside Out Contracts’ achievement: receiving the King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade.

In this personal and insightful interview, Lisa reflects on what the honour means, as a founder and for the entire team behind the brand’s global growth.
