What happens when disruptive innovation, practical strategy, and fearless design thinking collide?

At the NEWH, Inc Leadership Conference, three of hospitality’s leaders joined Alys Bryan, Editorial Director of Design Insider, for a dynamic panel exploring exactly that.

🎙️ Sylvain Morgaine, VP Innovation Lab, Accor

Sylvain shared how Accor is redesigning the guestroom experience by consolidating fragmented in-room tech into a unified interface controlled by the guest’s mobile phone.

“In the future, the guest experience will be driven through the mobile phone, it becomes the central interface for everything in the room.”

➡️ Innovation must be intuitive, accessible, and fully embedded into the guest’s personal tech ecosystem.

🎙️ Will Dowling, Development EMEA, Virgin

William explored multi-scale disruption, from Virgin’s work in space travel to small, high-impact shifts in room layouts, like rethinking the bathroom as an emotional and experiential zone.

“You’ve got to be fearless and give it a try.”

➡️ Fearless innovation, powered by emerging tools like AI, can deliver bold results at every scale.

🎙️ Nicolas Stachowiak, VP Development, Ennismore

Precision hospitality done brilliantly! Nicolas underscored the power of getting the essentials right — with a clear focus on F&B as a commercial driver.

“On some rooftops we generate up to 1,000 daily covers, with F&B making up 40 to 50% of overall turnover.”

➡️ Innovation doesn’t have to be flashy — doing the fundamentals exceptionally well delivers long-term, high-value returns.

Takeaway: Disruptive innovation is about bold ideas, smart execution, and knowing your guest. It’s tech-enabled comfort, reconfigured layouts, and rooftops that power your bottom line — this panel delivered insight with impact!
