Northern Lights have recently embarked on two new projects – Lansdowne Place and Tish Bar Restaurant. With an eight-strong design team supported by one of the largest bespoke lighting factories in the UK, the BCFA member works closely with designers to develop exclusive bespoke installations and light fittings to suit specific projects.
Northern Lights were delighted to work with Goddard Littlefair on the prestigious Lansdowne Place development. They were tasked with the interior design of the marketing suite and 215-apartment luxury residential development for client Chartered Land in the prestigious Ballsbridge area of Dublin.
Goddard Littlefair are renowned for their five-star fit-outs and have recently been rewarded for their work, by winning industry awards including Interior Designer of the Year at the 2017 Build Awards.
The 14m-high, three-storey marketing suite is now open, and the phased selling of the development has commenced, with the first apartments ready in 2018. These range from one-bed, two-bed and three-bed apartments to penthouses.
The interior concept references nearby Georgian and Victorian properties in terms of proportions and finishes and is rich and contemporary in feel, with granite balconies, solid walnut units, marble or natural stone bathrooms and the most exclusive kitchens ever offered in the Irish residential apartment sector.
Northern Lights worked on many designs in the marketing suites and penthouses, from beautifully detailed solid marble bedside lights with accents of bronze to alabaster bathroom lights, with a strong Art Deco influence.
Many of the chandeliers and ceiling fittings we realised from Goddard Littlefair’s design inspirations were fabricated by our team of skilled artisans in brass and finished in brushed, antiqued and bronze patinas – these perfectly complemented the stunning detailing of their scheme and the materials they sourced.
Matt Opal Glass also featured heavily for both ceiling and table lights – the versatility of this material allows a soft illumination where used in the bedrooms. Faceted geometric brass bases provided a contrast to the rich wood and stone materials that adorn the apartments.
Brass, and the various finishes possible with this currently popular and versatile material, was a strong highlight metal throughout the interiors and was used in most of the lighting installations and fittings we supplied, enhanced by the decorative elements of sculptures and vessels skilfully put together by the Goddard Littlefair design team.
Tish Bar Restaurant
Working closely with the designer Daniel Monk, Northern Lights realised his effortlessly elegant designs for the new café style restaurant in Belsize Park.
Inspired by owner David S. Levin’s passion for exceptional kosher cooking, Tish is the fulfilment of his lifelong dream to create a relaxed setting where people can make the most of quality time with family and friends in a light and airy space that is both cosy and stylish.
The high ceilings of the room frame the wall lights and chandeliers beautifully allowing them to be a real focal point of the interior. The layout and functionality of the room is very Parisian brasserie inspired yet is lifted and refreshed with quirky prints and a simultaneously bold and calming colour palette.
Inspired by Art Deco styles and fittings from last century the wall lights and chandeliers have sweeping arms and fine detailing and are finished in brass with hand blown matt opal spheres which softly illuminate the interior.
Northern Lights also made the frames for the decorative and functional bar shelving with integral lights in the same style as the wall lights and chandeliers. Working in real brass for all fittings, our team of skilled craftspeople were able to realise the complex fabrication to meet Daniel’s expectations and deliver his designs. All fittings were then finished in a soft brushed effect to highlight the detailing and elegance of the brass metalwork.
