Skyline Dining: Furniture Fusion Elevates Vicinity Restaurant with Bespoke Designs and Tower Bridge Views

Whether you’re a tourist or a local, there’s something special about the London skyline, with Tower Bridge an enduring favourite. So Furniture Fusion’s latest project in the capital has the perfect credentials if you’re looking for legendary London views, as the furniture fi rm headed to an iconic destination to create furniture for Vicinity Restaurant and Bar – a new-look restaurant situated alongside the River Thames, with views of Tower Bridge, The Shard and more.

Furniture for a riverside restaurant with legendary London views

The restaurant is inside the The Tower Hotel, by Thistle and is surrounded by key London landmarks. As you’d expect from such a standout location, the restaurant features floor-to-ceiling windows with seating maximised to make the most of the setting – meaning guest comfort was also a key consideration, allowing diners to settle in and enjoy the outlook alongside great drinks and food.

Positioned next to Furniture Fusion’s solid ash dining tables, the fi rm’s Barbara armchair gives guests a super-comfortable seat. Upholstered in anthracite faux leather and finished with solid beech legs stained to a dark walnut, it’s a great choice for a contemporary bar or restaurant interior and works well in this bright, contemporary space.

We’ve spoken to Furniture Fusion before about their enthusiasm for working with clients and designers to create bespoke products. Sam Samuels and team love an opportunity to create something special, with over two decades of experience in helping clients realise their vision and suggesting ways to make the finished furniture stand out from the crowd.

For this project, the team worked with designer Abi Perry-Jones at Jones AD to create some bespoke pieces for the restaurant. The bespoke EC1 London Chair was upholstered in midnight blue velvet and sits perfectly alongside the fi rm’s Romeo armchair which is upholstered in a striking geometric-patterned fabric. Both chairs feature distinctive tubular metal frames in a copper fi nish, echoing the pipe details and lighting throughout the space.

Over recent years, bar stools have become increasingly popular for hospitality projects, featuring in most of Furniture Fusion’s latest projects, whether hotels, bars, restaurants or other commercial interiors. The fi rm’s collection includes a wide range of bar stools, including many which can be used for outside spaces, but the team created the bespoke Diamond high stool for the Vicinity Bar & Restaurant project. These stylish stools are upholstered in a striking geometric-patterned fabric with tan faux leather for the seat and lower back, and another version which is upholstered in deep blue velvet fabric. Both styles are finished with a metal frame in a warm copper, giving guests a perfect elevated spot to enjoy drinks and take in the view over the River Thames and Tower Bridge beyond.

In addition to the loose and bespoke seating, Furniture Fusion also created some fixed seating at poseur height for this new-look restaurant and bar. This gives guests another option to sit at a higher position and enjoy the views – full upholstery in tan-coloured faux leather makes this a practical and stylish option for the buzzy restaurant and bar. The final bespoke element of this project saw the team creating and installing booth seating, providing a sociable and relaxed space to enjoy drinks and dinner with friends – sure to be a popular spot for diners this summer and all year round.

It’s clear that the interior of this venue has been designed to make the most of the views and setting, while the pieces Furniture Fusion installed and created have been designed to let customers relax and enjoy their time at Vicinity, blending comfort with contemporary style. It’s a light, airy and appealing space which has an appeal far beyond the breath-taking views.
