The company is on a journey towards becoming a zero plastic operation, having already reduced plastic in its incoming supply chain by ninety percent and in its outgoing processes by ninety five percent.
Alongside this, suppliers are carefully chosen not only for quality but for their own environmental credentials, supporting a wider movement towards a more sustainable design industry.
Within the London workroom, more than forty five percent of energy is generated through solar power. Energy use is further lowered with LED lighting, efficient machinery, and by transitioning vehicles to hybrid and electric models. These measures reflect a commitment to a more sustainable future, where operational excellence and environmental responsibility are inseparable.
No fabric is ever wasted. Surplus materials are donated to local schools, colleges and craft groups, supporting creativity, encouraging reuse, and extending the life of every textile. Southern Drapes’ sense of care extends beyond its workroom. The business supports charities including The Salvation Army and Candlelighters, and contributes internationally through Orphans In Need.
