Our Workplace Matters series continues with insight from Oliver Barker, Managing Director at AIS, who explores why organisations must rethink how office space is used and why multi-use workplaces are becoming essential.

At a time of economic pressure and changing working patterns, the traditional single-purpose office is quickly becoming outdated.

Key themes include:

• The role of data and behavioural insight in shaping flexible environments
• How workplaces can adapt between collaboration, focus, social and client use
• Why technology, acoustics and layout must be designed for multiple modes of work

As Oliver explains:
“Businesses can no longer afford to treat office space as static or single purpose. The question is no longer how much space do we need, it’s how can we make every part of it work harder.”

We spent the day working from the Concept Loft at HRH Contract Furniture, a space designed to bring designers, suppliers and ideas together.

The Concept Loft showcases products from more than ten suppliers including Newmor Wallcoverings, Amtico and Panaz, with dedicated displays such as Versital UK Ltd.

During our visit we also interviewed J-P Macrow, Managing Director of HRH Contract Furniture, to learn more about the business, the team and plans for growth.

We took a closer look at the Chair Barn’s latest seating designs, spoke with the wider team about their projects and even stepped outside to enjoy the beautiful countryside setting.

The Concept Loft is open to designers across the North looking for a place to work, meet and collaborate.

Take a look at our slides and spend the day with us inside the HRH Concept Loft!

Fettle has unveiled The Inn at Sundance Mountain Resort, a 63-room mountainside hotel in Utah that honours the enduring legacy of Robert Redford.

Located at the base of Mount Timpanogos, the project marks Fettle’s first project in Utah and thoughtfully evolves the original ethos of Sundance, blending respect for nature, art and preservation with a contemporary hospitality experience.

The design draws inspiration from the resort’s original cabins, layering reclaimed timber, rustic beams, Western motifs and curated artworks to create a warm, authentic atmosphere that reflects the landscape and cultural history of the site.

As Fettle co-founder Tom Parker explains:
“Every design decision was guided by respect for the land, the history, and the values that have made Sundance so enduring.”
