We are known for our history of collaboration with the legendary designer Niels Diffrient, who designed many of our task chairs, including the iconic Freedom chair — the first self-adjusting chair without manual knobs and levers. We also partner with other esteemed industrial designers, including Don Chadwick and Todd Bracher. Our innovations have been honoured with more than 200 prestigious awards since 2007 and featured in various museums, such as the Museum of Modern Art.
As a certified B Corporation, Humanscale is recognized for its planet-positive manufacturing and industry leadership in environmental stewardship. Achieving B Corp Certification demonstrates our company’s commitment to social and environmental responsibility. Humanscale leads the charge as the only major brand in the commercial furniture industry to be B Corp certified.
Our products are audited and validated by The International Living Future Institute, under their LIVING PRODUCT CHALLENGE. This most rigorous test of sustainability requires manufacturers to make their own operations climate positive across seven impact categories. Any time one of our 29 climate positive products – which account for over 75% of sales – are made, the planet is measurably better off.
