Somewhere Special: Colour, Character and Bespoke Furniture Inside Harrods
Tucked away on the exclusive fourth floor of Harrods, Somewhere Restaurant is anything but hidden. As the brand’s first UK venue, it makes a bold first impression – one that beautifully marries the building’s historic grandeur with a palette of fresh greens and oranges, using bespoke furniture to create a tranquil yet character-filled oasis.
Inside Out Contracts was brought on board to help bring this vibrant design vision to life, supplying a range of custom seating and soft furnishings for both the interior and terrace areas. But one piece stands out above the rest: the bespoke tub chair – a furniture statement in its own right and now a defining feature of the space.
Designed specifically for the project, the chair’s playful silhouette is upholstered in carefully selected textiles. The inside back and seat feature either Enchant Cactus or Luxe Performance Velvet Cinnamon, paired with an outer back in Cabaret Spruce or Paprika. All fabrics are CRIB5-rated, combining performance with aesthetic depth – ideal for the demands of a busy hospitality setting.
What truly transforms the chair from stylish to showpiece, however, is the bullion fringe skirt that sweeps around its solid beechwood base. It adds a nostalgic, glamorous touch – reminiscent of vintage interiors – while sitting comfortably within a modern, luxury dining space. Thoughtful details like CMHR foam interiors and integrated floor savers ensure these chairs work just as well as they look.
This piece formed part of a wider design scheme, which Inside Out Contracts was a part of. Other items included bespoke patchwork cushions and weather-ready outdoor seating – all finished in a palette that brings both colour and a sense of calm to the space.
