You’re Invited! Dining with Cultural Inspirations: Adele Moss & Becca Gibson, Interior Designers, Ekho Studio

Imagine hosting a dinner party where every detail – from the enchanting venue to the eclectic guest list – reflects the passions and inspirations that have shaped your creative life and work. In this joyful feature, we step into the minds of Adele Moss and Becca Gibson, interior designers at Ekho Studio, to explore their ultimate dinner party with the people who have influenced them as creatives.

Our Party setup

Venue

To set the scene: a crisp, clear evening, where each breath forms a little cloud in the air. You pull up to our venue – the magical Hohenzollern Castle in southern Germany – step out of the carriage and hear the satisfying crunch of snow beneath your boots. Twinkling fairy lights guide you along the path, where we’ll be waiting to greet you with a glass of prosecco in hand.

Menu

We’ll start with a giant pretzel as a cheeky nod to German culture, followed by a traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings (though sprouts very much avoided by Adele). At the end, an almost criminally indulgent array of desserts. Far too much choice, as always.

Entertainment

A classical string quartet, with the musicians all dressed in scarlet, playing Beethoven and Bach on arrival before launching into traditional Christmas carols – Silent Night to start with, as it’s German originally, and then the British classics.

Our Guest List

As we’re co-hosting, we’re having three guests each. The first three chosen by Becca and the next three by Adele!

Jamie Hayon

Jaime Hayon’s work bursts with joy, colour, and playful invention. His sculptural designs feel alive, teaching me how to embrace whimsy without losing precision. I’d love to hear how he balances imagination and craft, and how he finds inspiration in the unexpected.

David Attenborough

David Attenborough would have everyone captivated as he shares tales of his travels and the remarkable animals he’s encountered. I imagine his insights would spark hours of conversation, offering glimpses into moments most of us could only dream of experiencing.

Julie Taymor

Julie Taymor – probably best-known for staging ‘The Lion King’ – brings theatre to life in the most magical ways, blending costumes, sets, and puppetry into worlds you almost want to step inside. She has a fearless imagination and I’d love to hear the stories behind her extraordinary creations.

Julie Walters

In a double-Julie moment, we’d love to have Julie Walters at the table too for her perfect blend of warmth and sharp wit – the kind of energy that makes every dinner feel like home. Her roles, from Molly Weasley in Harry Potter to Rosie Mulligan in Mamma Mia, remind me of childhood and of watching films with my mum. She’d bring storytelling, laughter, and a fierce competitive streak in board games.

Antoni Gaudi

Antoni Gaudí’s architectural imagination feels like stepping into another world – bold, whimsical, and endlessly detailed. His work influenced my final GCSE project and later I had the opportunity to visit Barcelona and experience his magic for myself. Gaudi has always inspired me to think outside the box, be creative and has driven my keen eye for detail. I imagine him sketching ideas on napkins and rearranging the centrepiece into a cross between the Sagrada Família and a gingerbread house.

Jonathan Bailey

Actor Jonathan Bailey radiates charisma and confidence and will provide the perfect eye-candy. His “Sexiest Man Alive” 2025 title says it all. Between flirty glances, charming anecdotes, and spontaneous carol singing with the string quartet, he will keep the room glowing brighter than the fairy lights. After a couple of mulled wines, having someone charming to gaze at is practically a Christmas tradition. We’re sure Julie Walters will back us up on this!
