Colour Me beautiful: Bathroom Trends with BAGNODESIGN
As the trend for colour in the bathroom continues to make its mark across the residential and commercial sectors, In her own words, Katy Olsen, Brand Manager at BAGNODESIGN, explores how specifiers can utilise it to leave a lasting impression in every setting.
‘Bathroom trends come and go, but we see the trend for colourful bathrooms, which has certainly gained momentum over the last few years, as having real longevity. Providing a stark contrast to the neutral, minimal schemes that previously featured in many commercial and residential bathrooms, the new generation of designs are embracing a varied colour palette, which is being used to create characterful, personalised interiors.

In recent years the psychological effect of colour has been more widely recognised, and consumers and designers are increasingly utilising it to create relaxing and invigorating bathroom environments that are a pleasure to use and spend time in. As health and wellness remains a key priority, the colour revolution has gained traction, and designers are embracing it in fresh and interesting ways.
Bathroom taps in a unique, coloured finish offer a higher spec look and this is appealing to specifiers across the board. In the hospitality sector, particularly in hotels, guests are looking for luxurious experiences within wellness-focussed spaces, which have been designed to make a lasting impact. Here chrome taps and showers, which have long reigned supreme, are increasingly being replaced by a wide variety of brassware finishes. It was a trend that was on full display at last November’s HIX hotel interiors show, where brands such as BAGNODESIGN showcased a great choice of finishes.

Strong and stylish
For a long time, many specifiers shied away from coloured brassware as their powder coated finish often wasn’t durable enough to withstand frequent use. Scratching, fading and damage caused by cleaning and general, everyday usage made them less viable options, particularly in high-traffic environments.
However, advances in technology have really opened the door to colour when it comes to bathroom brassware and the new generation of finishes are designed to prioritise style as well as durability and easy maintenance.
At BAGNODESIGN, we have a number of brassware ranges available in high-strength coatings from Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) and electroplated to our revolutionary new Armour coating, which creates beautiful, ultra-durable finishes that are resistant to fingerprints, tarnishing, corrosion and wear.

Metallics of the moment
One of the many reasons that specifiers are increasingly opting for PVD coatings is that they result in a much more hardwearing, flawless finish.
Offering a luxurious look that won’t fade over time, PVD finishes can elevate any space and create a feeling of understated elegance. They also go hand in hand with the spa bathroom concept, which is appealing to discerning hotel guests and house buyers looking for design-led bathrooms and en suites. As a result, we’re seeing more demand for warm-toned PVD finishes such as our Soft Burgundy and Oyster, which blend beautifully with a variety of other materials such as stone and timber to create spa-inspired schemes.

Armour technology
New, highly advanced finishes that prioritise aesthetics and durability are continuing to make their way onto the market as manufacturers utilise the latest technology. Leading the field, BAGNODESIGN’s inspirational and highly durable new Armour Coating has been used to create our latest brassware ranges. The inspirational Toko Flavours comes in six unique, colourful finishes that include Lip Gloss, Blueberry and Mandarin, while the exciting new Studio 316 collection seamlessly blends Nordic minimalism with exceptional craftmanship.
An advanced finish that was originally developed for heavy-duty products used in the military, as well as the aerospace and automative industries, which require incredibly hard-wearing solutions, BAGNODESIGN’s industry-leading Armour finish offers unrivalled durability. It has been rigorously tested in both lab and real-world conditions to ensure the highest level of resistance to corrosion and chemicals, making the products coated with it suitable for use outdoors as well as indoors.
Ranges such as Toko Flavours and Studio 316 really reflect BAGNODESIGN’s commitment to inspiring designers and helping specifiers to make bold choices by transforming interiors with colour, style and superior quality bathroom products.’
