“Everything was designed, developed, and produced within the school — using the workshops, collaborating with technicians, and relying on what was already available.”

Justus’ recent project embraced the tools, materials, and community of ECAL to create practical, well-crafted objects that enhance shared spaces without shouting for attention.

It’s a compelling reminder for our industry: Refined functionality, resourcefulness, and collaboration are timeless design values — and innovation doesn’t always require reinvention. Design Insider interviewed Lisa Cluer, speaking from Windsor Castle shortly after meeting His Majesty King Charles III, to mark Inside Out Contracts’ achievement: receiving the King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade.
