So Chris, tell us about a space that has inspired you recently and how?

Constantly seeking to broaden our horizons, we look to travel and culture as a main source of inspiration to enhance current projects and promote new ways of thinking with projects of the future. Recently, at this year’s Salone del Mobile Milano we visited 10 Corso Como: a concept store conceived by former fashion editor and publisher Carla Sozzani as a virtual narrative.1_10 Corso Como web

Since its conception in 1990, 10 Corso Como remains a hidden gem and has carved a niche as a secret escape from the busy surrounding areas within the heart of Milan. Entering through a discreet façade, one immediately feels removed from the pace of the city and cocooned within a colonial courtyard, surrounded by perennial plants and seasonal flowers. It is here that a true ‘sense of place’ can be felt and the ambiance enjoyed from one of the Café’s, Main Restaurant or Terrace.35 web

There is a cohesive flow between the authentic courtyard and the cosmopolitan retail space located in a converted garage encompassing fashion, design, music, lifestyle, art and photography. This eclectic hybrid extends to the first floor where a Gallery and Bookshop can be found, the latter encouraging browsing and the stimulation of creativity and new ideas. Should you want to transition from visitor to guest, then this is possible with a choice of three boutique rooms.76 web

The philosophy is multi-functional: comprising a unique blend of Art, Music, Design, Cuisine and Culture from around the world. What is particularly special about the store is the fact that it is essentially a ‘living magazine’ which constantly evolves and comprises beautiful spaces, that are inclusive regardless of personal interest. From a design perspective, a great deal of respect has been given to original features, tailoring them to appeal to varying tastes and style, whilst retaining a private oasis in the heart of Milan and curating memories.

This is a design destination and powerful source of inspiration.
