A wall inspired by ancient Egypt. A dialogue between Mexico and London. A pavilion shaped by movement, light and air.

The 2026 Serpentine Pavilion has opened, designed by Mexico City-based LANZA atelier, founded by Isabel Abascal and Alessandro Arienzo.

Titled a serpentine, the pavilion takes inspiration from the historic crinkle-crankle wall, reinterpreting its flowing geometry through brick, light and landscape. Designed as a place of encounter and exchange, the structure explores how architecture can create moments of connection while remaining deeply rooted in its context.

The commission also marks the 25th edition of the Serpentine Pavilion, one of architecture’s most influential platforms for experimentation and emerging talent.

What did Clerkenwell Design Week 2026 really tell us?

Beyond the launches, talks, workshops and showroom parties, this year’s event gave us a useful snapshot of the commercial interiors community: what we’re excited by, where we’re being cautious, and how much we still value being in the room together.

Here are four trends we noticed across the week, taken from our full Design Insider Event Report.

Behind every beautifully designed hotel room is a layer of craftsmanship that guests may never consciously notice, but would certainly miss if it wasn’t there.

At No.15 Bath, Philip Cowan Interiors collaborated with GuestHouse Hotels and Interior Design Director Emma Montier to deliver bespoke soft furnishings that bring warmth, comfort and refinement to the recently refurbished guestrooms.

From hand-crafted triple pinch pleat curtains and contrasting Roman blinds to carefully considered sheers, blackout linings and bespoke detailing, every element was designed to complement the building’s Georgian heritage while enhancing the guest experience.

The result is a scheme that feels calm, elegant and effortlessly layered, proving that the most successful interiors are often shaped by the details working quietly in the background.
