Graduate Profile: Elliot Macdonald

Hopefully you have already seen our articles featuring some exciting 2017 design graduates. So far in the series we have shown the work of Till Stackman, Harriet Speed, Tim Evershed and Tim Oldroyd. We hope that you have been inspired and that you will continue to enjoy the work we share by UK graduates, including Elliot Macdonald.

Elliot Macdonald will graduate from Sheffield Hallam University with an MDes in Product Design.

We spoke to Elliot about his +Play design, he explained:

‘Do adults play enough?
Is society casting play aside in the name of efficiency?
A recent exhibition demonstrated that playing on +Play Seesaws makes users more motivated, at ease and happier. One user mentioned “it’s a way to have a conversation”. Use them to bring play to any scenario, co-working offices, break out spaces and creative businesses.’

When asked about his future Elliot said: ‘I hope to find a design practice that aims to make our everyday more enjoyable as a designer.’

Elliot’s +Play will be on display at Sheffield Institute of Arts 10th June – 23rd June 2017 and at New Designers 5th July – 8th July 2017.
