GROHE is proud to have participated in London’s first ever Planted event, which took place at London King’s Cross this weekend. Planted is an informative and inspiring three-day event, seeking to reconnect people and spaces with nature, and ignite positive change in behaviours across the design industry.
As a sustainably driven brand leading the way in the production of eco-conscious bathroom and kitchen fittings, GROHE participated in Planted’s debut live talks series, ‘Planted Unearthed’, highlighting the challenges facing the design industry and exploring the ways in which people, communities, cities, and buildings must adapt and evolve. Patrick Speck, Leader LIXIL Global Design EMENA which includes the GROHE brand, discussed these issues in the ‘Age of Waste’ talk chaired by Sam Peters, addressing the increasingly critical waste crisis and the shift towards circularity.
Ebru Bircan, GROHE Leader Marketing Activation UK, LIXIL, comments, “At GROHE, we are passionate about leading the bathroom and kitchen industry in transformative change to protect our planet. We are pleased that the topic of sustainability is pushing further up the agenda. Our attitudes to the way we live, work, and relax has changed dramatically in 18 months alongside how we view sustainability and climate issues such as waste. We we’re pelased to engage in a dialogue with other industry leaders at Planted to dissect our volution to a circular economy.”
GROHE’s four Cradle-to-Cradle certified products
(GROHE BauEdge S-Size, GROHE Eurosmart S-Size and GROHE Eurosmart Kitchen, GROHE Tempesta 100 shower rail set)
Having been working towards approaching a circular economy for many years, GROHE is proud to have four of its bestselling products confirmed as Cradle-to-Cradle® certified since March 2021. GROHE has manufactured and re-designed four of its best-selling products to have the potential to be re-used endlessly, offering a whole new take on the concept of recycling. The Cradle-to-Cradle® design principles enable GROHE to drastically reduce the use of new resources, as a product is designed and manufactured with the intent of using its components in its end-of-life-phase for the creation of new products, resulting in the ultimate sustainable solution.
GROHE’s bestselling taps, GROHE BauEdge S-Size, GROHE Eurosmart S-Size, GROHE Eurosmart Kitchen and the GROHE Tempesta shower rail set are now Cradle to Cradle Certified® at the Gold level, meeting one of the certification’s highest requirements. In addition, the sustainable impact of GROHE BauEdge and GROHE Eurosmart is enhanced with SilkMove ES technology, where ES stands for energy-saving. The technology prevents the unnecessary use of hot water by supplying only cold water with the lever in the middle position.
