LUMA MIRRORS Brought the Party to HIX - Reflections Shone Bright!

Read the full feature in the Design Insider HIX Event Report to discover how LUMA MIRRORS transformed storytelling into one of the standout installations of the event 👉 Click on the grid link on our Link in Bio!

One of the most talked-about experiences at HIX Event25 was Reflections by LUMA MIRRORS, created in partnership with MKV Design - a vibrant, story-rich installation filled with Mediterranean energy, family history and joyful design.

Rooted in this year’s theme Culture Clash, the installation drew from the childhood memories of sisters Laura Martinez - McGregor and Marian Martinez, who grew up behind the scenes of an Ibiza hotel their father managed for over 35 years. Visitors stepping into the space could feel that legacy: the warmth, the nostalgia, and the fusion of Scottish and Spanish heritage expressed through contemporary design thinking.

And then came the party: Balearic beats by Rob Wood, Ibizan-inspired mixology, and live demonstrations of Luma’s latest collaborations made Reflections one of the liveliest destinations on the show floor. As Marian Martinez shared:

“Reflections truly lived up to its name… visitors shared their own interpretations of the experience, a wonderful sign that the space resonated on a personal and creative level.”

How Longevity Is Transforming Hotel Wellness!

Last week the HIX Talks room filled to standing-room-only for Design Insider’s panel on longevity and hotel wellness, a clear sign of how rapidly this space is evolving.

Moderated by Alys Bryan, the discussion welcomed three leaders shaping the future of wellness design: Hattie David-Wilkinson - Maybourne, Ramy Elnagar - White Mirror, and Clint Nagata - BLINK Design Group. Their insights reflected the depth of change underway across global hospitality.

Key Takeaways from the Conversation

• Redefining Longevity in Hospitality
Longevity is now shaping luxury hospitality, but its meaning remains fluid. Guests seek transformation, ritual and personal relevance, not clinical environments.

• Spas as Ecosystems Rather Than Rooms
Wellness is expanding beyond traditional spa spaces into multi-layered ecosystems, from recovery and fitness to sensory experiences and opt-in sleep technology.

• Science Without the Clinic
Diagnostics can support personalisation, but hospitality must avoid medicalisation. Spaces should remain intuitive, warm and emotionally engaging.

• Community as the New Luxury
Membership models and thoughtful programming, from sound events to wellness workshops, are creating deeper, long-term guest relationships.

• Sensory and Experiential Design as Transformation
Sound, scent, temperature and touch are becoming powerful tools for behavioural change, moving guests from relaxation into true transformation.

• Return on Investment and the Business of Wellness
Commercial success comes from engagement, meaning and activation, beautifully designed spas alone no longer guarantee ROI.

A huge thank you to Hattie, Ramy and Clint for generously sharing their expertise and perspectives with our audience. Thank you Kristofer Thomas for curating this panel.
