Shaw Contract’s ‘In-Stock’ hits UK Contract Markets with it’s Exclusive EcoWorx® and EcoSolution® Q Yarn

EcoWorx® and EcoSolution® Shaw Contract Exclusive used on ‘In-Stock’

Shaw Contract has launched In-Stock – a new range of design focused carpet tiles developed for the UK contract market.  Created to meet the industry’s cost and lead-time drivers, In-Stock includes 46 separate colour-ways – from neutral tones to vibrant citrus shades.image1In-Stock benefits include a 61 x 61cm format – 2cm larger than industry norm – and a construction that’s 30% lighter than a bitumen-backed design. As a result, tiles are easier to handle, cut and install. The larger format also speeds installation and is increasingly popular with designers, as there are fewer joints to interrupt floor designs.  In-Stock also has a more substantial feel than many other products, so contributes towards a superior installation – and tiles are offered with a ten-year guarantee.

In-Stock environmental and safety benefits include Silver Cradle to Cradle certification and a construction that features Shaw Contracts’ own EcoWorx® backing and EcoSolution® Q yarn.  The backing contains 40% recycled materials and is 100% recyclable. It is also PVC-free, phthalate-free and virtually VOC free – and contributes towards LEED v4 points for health and wellbeing.  Meanwhile, EcoSolution® Q yarn is manufactured with recyclable nylon and offers the largest denier per filament and highest tensile strength in the market.image 2Design Insider spoke with Shaw Contact’s Marketing Director, Andrew Jackson who gave us an insight into this innovative new range and the trends that Shaw Contract expect in the coming year.

What makes the new ‘In-stock’ range great?

The new In-Stock range means that the product and service we can offer to the market is improving. There are some fantastic product options to choose from across carpet tile and LVT flooring. All co-ordinate with each other and are available on a quick lead time for a good price. This meets the demand of the current market.

Can you tell us more about the EcoWorx® backing and Eco Solution® Q yarn used on this product?

EcoWorx is our high-performance carpet backing which offers significant environmental advantages.  It is Silver Cradle to Cradle™ certified providing ingredient transparency. It uses 40% less energy to produce than traditional carpet tiles and weighs 40% less than traditional carpet tile, making it more efficient to transport and install. EcoWorx contributes to LEED and BREEAM certifications and can be picked up, returned to the factory and recycled, diverting the product from landfill.

Shaw Contract is a vertically integrated manufacturer meaning that we manufacture our own yarn: Eco Solution Q.  It is a premium branded commercial carpet fibre used in more than 90% of Shaw Contract products. It is manufactured with recyclable Type 6 Nylon and is used in all our Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Silver carpet products.

Eco Solution Q is designed to sustain and offers the ultimate combination of aesthetics and performance.  As its engineered for performance and durability, it performs in commercial spaces around the globe. It offers the largest denier per filament and highest tensile strength in the market. Backed by industry leading warranties, Eco Solution Q is available in more than 200 solution and yarn-dyed colours.image 3What trends do you forecast for your industry sector in 2017?

It is going to be an interesting year. There is still uncertainty in the market but, at Shaw Contract, we’re developing our business to be more relevant to the market and we’re easier to do business with.

Carpet tile products are still a priority for us. The increase of the use of LVT flooring continues but we believe that project teams are more discerning when it comes to ensuring different flooring products are working well together. Of course, price and delivery will be key drivers in the market as always.

What has Shaw Contract got in the pipeline for the future?

We are planning to expand the products that we stock and launch more design-driven collections of both carpet tile and LVT products. We innovated on a number of different product platforms during 2016 and we fully expect that to continue in 2017.

We are also developing our focused hospitality collection and operations. Hospitality is a growth sector in the market and for Shaw Hospitality in the UK and Europe. We have multiple collections launching this year.
