Elegant Clutter – Crowne Plaza, Chester

Red Rum is made of iron horse shoes

Working to a brief set by Interior Designers Design Coalition, the team at Elegant Clutter was asked to provide bespoke art and sculpture with a strong link to Chester Race Course.

The metal horse sculpture is based on the profile of the famous racing horse Red Rum, who opened the hotel. Actual forged iron racing horse shoes were used to create the sculpture. A template was made in timber to ‘sculpt’ the shape around.

All components of the suspended bird sculpture were hand made by Elegant Clutter’s team.

The framed artworks include Vintage Illustrations of Ladies Hats which reference Ladies Day at the Races.

The bespoke content demonstrates a clear understanding of how to reference location without being too obvious. Elegant Clutter designed, manufactured and installed all artworks and sculptures.
