Johnson Tiles
Slip Resistance: Specifying floors that are fit for purpose

J2

Commercial environment and workplace slip accidents are of a major concern for many. By looking at national statistics, Lucy Jones at Johnson Tiles will explore the extent and high-cost of casualties, the importance of risk assessments, HSE guidance and the reliability of information. By explaining the science of friction, we can understand the factors that cause slips and the considerations needed. Prevention is the best method of defence, so developing accurate ways to measure the slip resistance of surface materials, particularly in floor tiling, is of paramount importance. Stylish design and innovative materials need not come at the cost of risk, and this CPD will outline the importance of specifying floors that are fit for purpose.

Specifying Lincrusta for use as a textured wallcovering in commercial and residential projects

RD1972 Tapestry - main dec effect

Intended to provide guidance on specifying Lincrusta as a textured wallcovering for commercial and residential projects, our CPD course offers attendees an insight into the history of this very British product, and explores product types, uses and limitations as well as looking at the production process to help provide a better understanding of the material.

Naturally, as a specialist wallcovering, we also discuss installation and decoration techniques relating to Lincrusta. And with so much history and heritage, we finish with a look at ways to restore and conserve historic examples of Lincrusta still in existence, many of which date back to the late 19th / early 20th century.
