Allergy free option is deal breaker for travellers
The Fine Bedding Company has collaborated with Heal’s trade team in order to supply Smartfil® Boutique Silk luxury bedding for new allergy friendly rooms at the 4* Richmond Hill Hotel.
The Georgian, Grade II listed Richmond Hill Hotel has recently undergone a £4.5m refurbishment that has seen the addition of a new wing and 75 bedrooms over five floors which includes suites specifically aimed at those who suffer from allergies.
The Fine Bedding Company’s Smartfil® Boutique Silk non allergenic bedding contains a unique microfibre filling which is coated with a permanent silicone glaze to create duvets and pillows that are silky soft and shape to the contours of the body for maximum comfort. Smartfil®Air duvets and Smartfil® Clusters pillows can be washed at 60 degrees, the temperature at which dust mites are destroyed and retain their body and fluffiness even after repeated washing so guests can always enjoy a great night’s sleep.
According to Madeleine Rasmussen, trade co-ordinator, Heal’s who was involved with specifying furnishings for the refurbishment, ”Richmond Hill Hotel wanted to offer a suite of rooms that would be suitable for guests with allergies and decided to trial several bedding brands to see which one performed best. Boutique Silk has a luxurious feel yet it is durable enough to withstand the wear and tear of a commercial environment and that was one of the reasons why it was chosen for this project.”
The ability to offer guests a non allergenic option is becoming increasingly important as a recent study by Cornell University Survey Research Institute highlights: 83% of travellers canvassed say they would choose an allergy friendly room if they had the option; 59% of travellers would choose one hotel over another based on availability of allergy friendly rooms.
