Clerkenwell Design Week Trends

At the forefront of design and innovation, Clerkenwell Design Week (20-22 May 2014) – now in its fifth year – once again plays host to a curated showcase of some of the best creative ideas from both design and architecture. The key shows, Design Factory, Platform, Detail and Additions, will present a comprehensive collection of the latest designs by leading brands from the UK and around the world. These four shows, coupled with a range of specially commissioned projects – as part of CDW Presents, firmly place Clerkenwell Design Week as a leading festival for innovations and design trends.

A mix of materials, natural surfaces and tactile fabrics emerges as a key trend at this year’s Clerkenwell Design Week. Celebrating its 40 years of textile innovation, leading fabric brand Camira will launch its latest environmental fabric – with an industry first fabric made from recycled jute from coffee sacks blended with wool.

Ege will also be showing off their new collect which has had a lot inspiration from the 1930’s bringing back the era of the Art deco – with  a universe of geometry, graphic patterns, monochrome colours and Art Deco styles inspired by the famous French architect Le Corbusier.

Lighting

Lighting is always a standout feature for Clerkenwell Design Week, and this year is no different with a dedicated lighting floor at the Design Factory. Leading lighting experts Artemide will be showcasing their latest innovative products, including their Space Cloud Its concept has been inspired by NASA’s photos from space of the Earth and the incredible quality of light one perceives as the colour of the Earth itself influences with warmth and crystal clarity of the sun’s rays.
