Located in one of London’s most creative and design-conscious neighbourhoods, The Hoxton Shoreditch has built its reputation on thoughtfully curated interiors that blend contemporary design with understated luxury. When County Contractors were appointed to deliver elements of the refurbishment programme, they required a manufacturing partner capable of producing large volumes of bespoke mirrors without compromising on quality, consistency or programme deadlines. For Abbey Glass, the brief extended well beyond simply supplying mirrors.
Over the course of the project, the company manufactured 426 bespoke grey-backed mirrors, each produced to exact specifications for installation throughout the hotel. Manufactured entirely in-house, each mirror was carefully quality-checked before leaving the factory, ensuring consistency across every room and communal space.
While volume was an important consideration, the project’s technical complexity quickly became the defining feature.
Of the 426 mirrors supplied, 146 required precision CNC machining to accommodate integrated lighting features and secondary mirror components. Working from detailed technical drawings provided by County Contractors, Abbey Glass utilised its advanced CNC processing capabilities to produce highly accurate cut-outs and machining, allowing lighting installations to integrate seamlessly within the finished design.
In hospitality environments, where guests experience every detail up close, tolerances are unforgiving. Even the smallest manufacturing inaccuracies can become immediately visible once lighting, fittings and surrounding finishes are installed. Achieving the required precision demanded careful programming, rigorous quality control and experienced manufacturing throughout every stage of production.
The result was a collection of bespoke mirrors that not only met the project’s technical requirements but also supported the sophisticated interior aesthetic expected within one of London’s best-known boutique hotels. Equally important to the project’s success was the collaboration between manufacturer and contractor throughout the delivery programme.
Rather than a single installation, the refurbishment was completed in phases between July and December 2025, allowing County Contractors to coordinate installation alongside wider refurbishment works across the hotel. This required production schedules to remain flexible while maintaining consistent quality across multiple manufacturing batches.
Effective communication became central to the project’s success. Technical drawings, manufacturing schedules and delivery programmes were coordinated between the two teams, ensuring products arrived exactly when required and allowing installation to progress efficiently without unnecessary delays.
