When the opportunity arose to purchase the Hall back in 2020, (now owners) John & Lucy Gough did not hesitate, as John had admired this striking house for all his working life!

The Covid-19 lockdown gave the family plenty of opportunity to sit around the dinner table mapping out their plans for a luxury holiday rental business. The whole house let on a self-catering basis, targeting large family celebrations and holidays.

A comprehensive renovation was needed to bring the house up to the high standard and with much planning work started in January 2021. The whole house was surrounded in scaffolding and continued that way for 24 months, under the direction of project manager Mike Speed and John.

Interior designer, Katie Briggs of ‘Keeping it Home’ completed the team, working with Lucy to decorate and furnish the house in an eclectic style that has respectfully blended the period character of the house with a fresh modern style.

The Hall has now been renovated to an exceptionally high standard and presents elegant and generously proportioned accommodation for up to 12 guests. The accommodation offers six luxurious double bedrooms, all with ensuites.

Plans are also currently in place for phase two, which will be the renovation of another building to increase the accommodation by a further 3 double rooms.

Working closely with interior designer on the project Katie Briggs, Taylor’s Classics supplied a selection of hand-picked Antique & Reclaimed furniture. Furniture included the fantastic large antique mahogany extending table, to their elegant dining room, which can sit up to 30 people comfortably!

The dining table was also paired with traditional Ashcombe dining chairs, which were stained & upholstered bespoke to client’s specification. The fabrics picked connect the colour palette from the dining space into the cosy fireside nook.

“The overall feel of this elegant dining room is one of calm and inviting and the pink brings that invitation!” Katie Briggs of Keeping It Home

Taylor’s also restored, re-gilded, and re-upholstered a fantastic antique French Salon Suite, which is now featured in the Drawing Room of the beautiful hall.

“There is nothing more satisfying than seeing an antique restored back to its former glory and continue its journey and the next chapter of life.” Katie Briggs

Dotted around you will also find a selection of traditional bentwood dining chairs & stools in the kitchen areas, adding that fresh clean modern twist.
