What if your office felt more like a village than a workplace?

LinkedIn’s new Munich office, designed by Gensler, rethinks what connection looks like at work, blending local culture with a global brand in a space that feels both familiar and forward-thinking.

Some standout moments from the project:

• A “Millionendorf” concept, breaking the office into smaller neighbourhoods that feel intimate, social and connected

• A central café inspired by Munich’s beer gardens, with long communal tables designed for gathering

• A fully equipped kitchen with a Michelin-star chef, turning food into a shared experience, not just an amenity

• Outdoor terrace connections, bringing fresh air and nature into the everyday workplace

It’s a space that balances global consistency with local identity, designed not just for work, but for how people come together, learn and connect.

Cruise design is becoming more complex, and with it, the role of flooring is becoming far more strategic.

In this latest feature, Ulster Carpets explores how design can help manage that complexity through its work on Royal Caribbean International’s Star of the Seas.

Spanning 20 decks and welcoming more than 5,600 guests, the ship brings together a wide variety of experiences, from energetic family zones to quieter, more refined settings. For Ulster, the challenge was to create bespoke Axminster carpets that gave each space its own identity while contributing to a cohesive guest experience across the vessel.

“As cruise operators continue to redefine what a ship can offer, the role of considered, well-planned design becomes even more important.”
