What Years of Travel Taught David Baldry About Great Hospitality

Read the full interview in the Design Insider HIX Event Report to explore David Baldry’s insights on sleep, service and what truly makes a hotel unforgettable 👉 Click on the direct link on the grid post through our Link in Bio!

At HIX, the aisle around the Hypnos stand quickly filled as Alys Bryan sat down with David Baldry, Managing Director at Hypnos, for a fast-paced and lively conversation shaped by years of global travel and hundreds of hotel stays.

David shared what guests really need from a room:
• A sanctuary that feels calm, clear and comfortable
• A great bed, supportive seating and an amazing shower
• Simple, intuitive layout, knowing instantly where to sleep, read and get ready
• Thoughtful F&B that nourishes and uplifts

He reminded us that unforgettable hospitality is always about people: the warm welcome at the door, the attentive restaurant manager, the team who make you feel at home.

The conversation also explored the industry shift from style-led rooms to quality-driven sleep environments, an area where Hypnos sees itself as both supplier and educator. From sustainability commitments to rotation labelling, Hypnos continues to support hotels in delivering exceptional sleep experiences that are both luxurious and responsible.

David also offered candid reflections on what not to do, recalling stays where cleanliness, lighting or service fell short: “If you can’t get the basics right, guests will just move on.”

Looking ahead, he sees more luxury, more innovation in materials, and deeper partnerships to help hotels design truly restorative rooms.

Discover the full conversation, plus David’s quickfire answers, in the Design Insider HIX Event Report.

Celebrating Craft, Technology and Collaboration: The Harmony Suite

Read the full feature in the Design Insider HIX Event Report to see how The Harmony Suite reimagines the future of the contemporary hotel room 👉Click on the direct grind link through our Link in Bio!

One of the most refined installations at HIX 25, The Harmony Suite, created by Silent Gliss and Studio Moren, offered a calm, tactile and technologically seamless vision of the modern guestroom.

The experience began the moment visitors tapped a keycard and the room responded instantly: blinds rising, curtains opening, and the space preparing itself in a smooth, intuitive sequence. Inside, soft fabrics, grass-cloth textures and warm timber paired with Silent Gliss smart shading, Bodhi controls, Rako lighting, Black Nova interfaces and Sonos audio to create a room that felt crafted yet responsive.

A broad network of collaborators enriched the space, including Hypnos, Contract Chair Co., Romo Group, Phillip Jeffries, Ege Carpets, Samuel & Sons, Alma Leather, Forest Contract, Mega Glass, Heritage Brass by M. Marcus, Salto, Lualdi, Chelsom and Savage Lighting, each adding depth, comfort or technical excellence.

As Silent Gliss explained:
“The Harmony Suite demonstrates how our motorised window treatments work seamlessly with Studio Moren’s design to create guestrooms where craftsmanship and technology coexist. Technical excellence isn’t a luxury, it’s central to spaces that feel intuitive, calm and impeccably crafted.”

The installation remains on show at the Silent Gliss London studio for a limited time.
