The lead up to Sleep and Eat 2018

Sleep and Eat 2018 is hosted at the Olympia in London on the 20th and 21st November. This is Europe’s hotel design, development and architecture event, inspiring hotel interiors across the globe. Sleep & Eat’s purpose is to connect the visionaries that represent the hospitality industry, and in turn define the evolution of hotel and restaurant experience. With the addition of Eat, we look forward to seeing if the new event format is as successful as the Sleep event as we knew it.

Design Insider would like to give you an insight into what is to come! We also announce a Sleep competition, so make sure to read until the end!Design Insider Sleep Logo

Design Insider’s Conference Picks

Design Insider Sleep ConferenceThe Global View – Sleep Conference, 20th November at 11.30-12.15

Designers with truly world encompassing portfolios share their ideas on global hospitality design. Their viewpoints come from working in differing parts of the globe. We will hear about the trends and tendencies they see. This session is neatly positioned between Andrew Zobler’s look at the state-of-the-industry with his American-led view and the following session that looks at the dynamics of the London hotel scene.

The Sense of Design – Sleep Conference, 21st November at 12.30-13.15

Discover the impact sensory design is having on the guest experience. The broader knowledge of Tom Hupe at Perkins & Will and their research into the human experience in hospital, education and workplace design, is expanded by the specialist know how of Sally Story of LDI and Tom Middleton of Sonux who look at the place lighting and sound quality have in the hotel environment respectively. The topic is endless, and the results need to work.

Eat Set Vignettes – Eat Conference, 20th November at 17.30-18.30

Four design studios. Four concepts. Four different briefs. A bar, a restaurant, a cafe and a nightclub. Hear the designers present their thought process behind the creations. Experience each around the exhibition space.

Dwelling: The Story of HIDE –  Eat Conference, 21st November at 10.30-11.15

Hear from the designer behind one of the most talked about restaurant opening in London this year – Ollie Dabbous’ Hide on Piccadilly. Rose Murray will be sharing her design story of the three distinct concepts within – Above, Ground and Below – and how working with three female artists on the project was more than just a collaboration.
