Petra and Venero: New Porcelain Collections Inspired by the Enduring Beauty of Stone

As designers continue to seek materials that balance natural aesthetics with practical performance, Johnson Tiles has introduced two new porcelain collections that bring the character of stone into contemporary interior schemes.

Petra

Launched on 7 July 2026, Petra and Venero have been designed by Johnson Tiles’ UK-based design team and reflect the growing popularity of warm neutrals, tactile surfaces and nature-inspired finishes across commercial and residential interiors.

Both collections draw influence from the textures, colours and imperfections found in the natural landscape, translating these qualities into durable glazed porcelain suitable for modern specification requirements.

Petra takes inspiration from layered minerals and fossil-like textures, offering a refined interpretation of natural stone. Subtle surface detailing creates visual depth while maintaining a calm and understated aesthetic. Available in Chalk, Pebble and Asphalt, the collection lends itself to schemes that prioritise simplicity, texture and material authenticity.

Venero explores a softer visual language, inspired by weathered landscapes and naturally aged stone. Gentle veining and earthy colourways bring warmth and character to interiors, with the palette spanning Shale, Taupe and Walnut. The result is a versatile collection suited to hospitality environments, workplace projects and contemporary living spaces.

The launch reflects wider movements within commercial interior design, where designers are increasingly embracing grounded colour palettes, tactile finishes and materials that create a sense of comfort and permanence.

Design manager, Melanie Holland comments:

“We designed Petra and Venero in house to reflect the growing UK demand for interiors that feel grounded, tactile and effortlessly timeless. Nature continues to shape interior design, with specifiers gravitating towards warm neutrals, earthy tones and stone-inspired surfaces that create a calm, considered backdrop. Larger formats are part of that conversation too, giving designers the scope to create sweeping, uninterrupted flooring schemes.”

“Petra brings subtle fossil textures and layered mineral detailing for an understated yet characterful feel, while Venero takes a softer route, with delicate veining and warm earthy tones that bring a sense of balance and quiet sophistication.”

Both collections are available in 600x300mm, 600x600mm and 1200x600mm formats and feature a natural finish with a PTV 36+ slip resistance rating, making them suitable for a wide range of internal commercial applications including hospitality, retail and workplace environments.

Stocked in the UK, Petra and Venero also carry Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), supporting project teams seeking greater transparency around material selection and environmental performance.
