The 4-star Seel Street Hotel is part of Epic Aparthotels who offer design-led luxury serviced apartments catering for 2-10 guests. This unique hotel is situated in the heart of Liverpool, a stone’s throw away from the top bars and restaurants in the bustling city.

Furnotel worked closely with all involved. The client, who were commercial property developers, Elliot Group and the operators of the hotel, Epic Apartments, who had previously worked with Furnotel on another Liverpool aparthotel property, alongside consulting with Falconer Chester Hall who were the appointed architects and interior designers for this scheme.

Furnotel manufactured and installed a package of bespoke bedroom casegoods with a nod to a vintage industrial loft theme for 128 guest bedrooms. The bedroom furniture package included bespoke upholstered headboards, industrial style wardrobes, desks and bedside units.

The client set Furnotel the challenge to manufacture and deliver bespoke hotel bedroom casegoods within six weeks before the much-hyped local football derby which was played between Liverpool and Everton as the hotel bedrooms had all been pre-sold for this local high-profile match due to its prime location.

The overall design for Seel Street Hotel is part-industrial part-luxurious, to realise this brief within the casegoods design, a combination of powder coated black metal tube frames were used on both the bedsides and wardrobes.

This was juxtaposed against a natural wood effect melamine adopted for the surfaces and general construction. To add further interest to the furniture pieces, various contrasting contemporary brass handles and detailing complement the overall furniture design.

The hotel bedroom furniture needed to feel like a 4- star guestroom and be stylish, but also needed to be very robust using the popular industrial loft apartment theme that reflects this area of Liverpool. The same casegoods design was used for every room so it had to be suitably adaptable in sizes for smaller and larger hotel bedrooms to cater to varying footprints.

The hotel bedrooms were to have a quirky boutique feel to them with dark blue walls combined with soft greys and a warm inviting Autumn palette with punchy yellows and burnt oranges. There was two wood effect MFC finishes used to add depth to the scheme.

The headboards were all upholstered in a contract quality burnt orange faux leather with a simple fold seam to each corner, again adding a pop of warm colour to the hotel bedrooms while also tying in with the soft furnishing within the interior design scheme such as the curtains and bolster cushions.

The wardrobes featured space for a safe, hairdryer, robes, slippers and full-length hanging space and were constructed using a mix of materials, elements of timber, powder coated tubular framework and brass coloured wire mesh to give a vintage industrial aesthetic to the scheme.

The open design of the wardrobe furniture allowed it to also act as a room divider in some of the more spacious bedrooms without stealing too much light from the window, therefore creating a unique dressing area for hotel guests. All design details were considered throughout, even down to the discrete wardrobe safety fixings which secured it to the wall and echoed the industrial feel.

The desk design needed to house a generously sized minibar unit and work with a surface mounted minibar tray which meant having very specific design details to allow for wiring and adequate spacing.

The client wanted to bring alive the casegoods from the initial visual proposal along with making sure they worked as practical hotel bedroom furniture pieces. The client needed to have all pieces manufactured and on site within a short period of time and needed them to all work in harmony with the electrical elements of the project.

In order to make this happen a great deal of attention to detail was needed to align the furniture precisely. The wardrobe design in particular needed to be versatile and required individual bespoke alterations in order to work within bedrooms which could house a wardrobe as a room divider or segregated dressing area, and those which would simply house a wardrobe against the wall.

The finished scheme not only looks on trend and attracts a steady flow of young clientele of hen and stag parties, but is also a scheme that will respond well to the punishment it is likely to receive from high spirited guests.

A comprehensive site survey was necessary pre-installation to assess any access challenges and different room types. Wardrobes and desks were part-assembled at Furnotel’s manufacturing facility to hasten the installation on site. The entire delivery and installation of the hotel bedroom furniture was efficiently executed in good time for the big match.
