The One’Clock Gun, with Taylor’s Classics

From the team behind Liverpool’s Maray Restaurants, the new brand and venue ‘The One O’clock Gun’ is situated in the heart of Liverpool’s Royal Albert Dock, a pub that brings together all that’s best about old-fashioned hospitality – a great drink offering and the perfect pub grub! It specialises in honest, simple, and locally sourced food like pies and ‘beer’ snacks and an extensive range of drinks for all.

“Our mission is for The Gun to be the most welcoming, vibrant and inclusive pub in Liverpool.” – Tom White

The venue itself is named after Liverpool’s One O’Clock Gun, which was fired for the first time from Morpeth Dock on the 21st of September 1867 – the start of a tradition which would last over a century in the port of Liverpool. The huge, familiar boom from the cannon would be heard for miles, offering ships a time check, crews setting their chronometers by the gun. It would also alert everyone nearby of the correct time – for generations of local people within earshot this was a signal that it was time for lunch. Today, you can find the very first One O’Clock Gun, originally a relic from the Crimean War, situated quayside by the Albert Dock Maritime Museum.

Working together with Tom White and the team from Maray Restaurants, Taylor’s Classics supplied an assortment of their traditional classics collection, including bespoke made-to-order Glasgow benches, Ironica dining chairs and farmhouse stick back chairs. You will also spot their Taylor’s Exclusive range of unique Cast Iron tables (paired with either copper or marmoleum lino inlay table tops) around the site and hand-picked Antique & Reclaimed tables & accessories too, which the Maray team found whilst looking around the Taylor’s warehouse located in Stafford.

Keeping in theme with the classic pub interiors, the chairs and bench seating were upholstered in either deep blue or green leathers and stained in a mixture of medium to dark oak finishes.

“This was our first time working with Tom White and the Maray restaurants team, it is a great up and coming brand, with amazing fun and exciting ideas to be involved with and we hope to be working with them again in the future” said Taylor’s Classics.
