In this series we will enjoy a glimpse of the working environments of designers, architects and directors and discover what can we learn from how they work and the objects they work alongside.

In our second post David Smalley, Director of Mix Media (and the person responsible for making B2B publications sexy!) shows us his working space and highlights 3 objects.

New Dictaphone:  ‘Used for various interviews these are invaluable. The new one will be used by Mick (Jordan, editor) and I at Clerkenwell Design Week. A great way to get instant comments from the design fraternity – before or after a drink.’

Book of Lists:  ‘I am a bit of a list maker and frankly the only way of ensuring things get done in any sort of order. My priority list at the moment: Product Designer editorial feature for the June issue; Meeting up/speaking with all panellists for the Mix Inspired event in Manchester in June and getting out the notes from our first partner meeting for our new hospitality supplement IMPRESSION.’

Mixology Wrist Bands:  ‘I have mine but have promised to hand over someone’s next week in person. Completely sold out for over three months. When we picked up the award for best award last Friday many of our colleagues in other industries said we should go to a bigger venue – I personally think we would struggle to beat Old Billingsgate, and what’s wrong with selling out!’

Mix Interiors have launched a series of seminars – MixInspired. They aim to inspire, inform and entertain those that are interested in the world of commercial property and workplace design.  Mix Inspired is aimed at the A&D, D&B and general property market. You will learn something new, meet some great people, and get some CPD points – all courtesy of Mix and our great sponsors. All events run from 5.30pm – 7.30pm and the next event will be in Manchester on the 7th June 2017.

The shortlist for Mixology17 has now been announced and I am sure you will have already seen the flurry of social media posts from the thrilled finalists.  The Mixology Awards ceremony and summer ball is created for the dynamic and innovative interior design community.  This years sold out event is on the 22nd June, have you got a ticket?!
