Brighton Workplace Transformed by GTA Interior to Set New Standards in Commercial Office Space
GTA Interior, in collaboration with global real estate investment and development leaders Schroders, has unveiled the newly transformed Trafalgar Place campus in the heart of Brighton. Once outdated 1980s office buildings, the campus now offers 80,000 sq. ft. of premium, highly sought-after workspace, designed to meet the modern business community’s evolving needs.
This ambitious redevelopment spans three buildings – Napier House, Lanchester House, and Invicta House. Focused on creating premium, highly sought-after workspaces, GTA and Schroders prioritised flexibility, community connection, and sustainability. The result is a modern and highly desirable campus that sets the bar for Brighton’s workplace market.
Sustainability at the Core
Preserving existing structures and avoiding demolition were major priorities from the outset, reflecting Schroders’ strong commitment to sustainability and ESG principles. This approach not only minimised waste but also underscored the project’s dedication to eco-conscious practices. GTA Interior sourced sustainable materials and energy efficient technology to achieve certifications FitWel, WELL, NABERS, ActiveScore, Air Rated, and WiredScore. Napier House is on track to achieve BREEAM Excellent, while the remaining buildings has already earned BREEAM Very Good.
From upgrading to high-efficiency windows for a higher EPC rating to designing mechanical systems that can easily accommodate future expansions, every detail showcases a thoughtful and eco-conscious approach.
Redefining Tenant Appeal
Trafalgar Place combines modern amenities with Brighton’s vibrant community charm. Features include a state-of-the-art 24-hour gym converted from a former car park, equipped with wellness facilities including secure storage for 180 bicycles and scooters, drying rooms, heated lockers and showers to encourage active commuting. A neutral design palette, premium-ready office suites, and a versatile 50-seat auditorium ensure it caters to a wide range of businesses.
A Collaborative Vision
Extensive research and consultation with Brighton’s commercial real estate agents, stakeholders, and tenants guided the early feasibility and design phases. GTA also worked closely with Stiles Harold Williams to maximise the site’s potential. Running parallel to the project, was the planning application for the broader site masterplan to support future development. Rooftop extensions above the central campus buildings required GTA to adopt a forward-thinking approach to the strategy and ensured the design was not only successful in meeting current needs but also adaptable for future masterplan enhancements.
GTA Interior’s Design Director, Angelle Champkin says:
“We are extremely proud of what has been achieved by the GTA team. Trafalgar Place has been completely transformed from the outdated buildings they were before, emerging with a dynamic new identity as a bustling hub of activity and connection. The upgrades have not only enhanced the value of Trafalgar Place but have also established it as a highly sought-after destination for tenants. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the office spaces come alive with a growing community of businesses settling into their new home.”
