Custom Rugs by Loomah at The Connaught
In the Autumn of 2017, Loomah were invited to collaborate with Michael Blair and the team at Blair Associates on the design and supply of three custom made rugs for the Mews House at The Connaught, a private three-story town house offering guests the best of all possible worlds; exquisite Connaught hospitality along with keys to their own front door.
“We have worked hard to build a reputation within the industry, not only as being at the forefront of design and supply of luxury carpets and rugs, but as a reliable company to work with, “says Andrew, Founder of Loomah Bespoke Carpets & Rugs, “It was an honour to be approached by industry leaders to work on such a landmark project.”
Michael Blair had a clear vision for the design of the hotel rugs, presenting his ideas in the form of hand drawn sketches. “Whilst we have a large portfolio of designs available for customisation, it is our bespoke design service that allows our customers to create something truly unique for their space” says Antonina, Designer at Loomah.
Antonina translated Michael Blair’s sketches into bespoke rug designs with the use of CAD, utilising her expertise to get the proportion and scale just right. Every element was carefully considered to realise Blair’s vision.
The open-plan living room rug is a focal point of the space. The deconstructed horse-shoe motif was derived from the Mews’ previous equestrian usage and re-imagined to work within the contemporary setting.
The bedroom rugs feature an amorphous design with each individual shape hand drawn to preserve its natural form and hand-tufted in a luxurious blend of wool and silk. A firm favourite amongst the Loomah team, the wool and silk blend combines the lustre and softness of a silk carpet with the durability of wool carpet and feels wonderfully sumptuous underfoot. The neutral colour palette complements the open and airy aesthetic felt across the mews.
