Contract Chair Company – IMM Cologne 2014 Review

IMM A RENOVATION TO INNOVATION

The Cologne Furniture Fair, or more accurately IMM Cologne, is one of the world’s biggest furniture shows, taking place every January in Cologne, Germany. It sets trends for the year and factories use it to showcase themselves and introduce new products.

The Contract Chair Company sends a team every year, with the intention to source the best new products for the UK Contract furniture market. This year our team was headed by one of  our founders (and Sales Director), James Ketteringham, while Hooria Eltumi, our Supplier Manager, was establishing relationships with new factories.

IMM 2014 has been marked by a switch from renovation to innovation – during the last few years the hottest hits of the furniture market have tended to be new interpretations of classic pieces; this year we have seen many more completely new designs.

The fair has also seen the emergence of more Central European furniture manufacturers, who appear to be bolstering their manufacturing facilities and making considerable investments in furniture design and innovation. We have managed to form and strengthen our bonds with several experienced and innovative manufacturers, which will in turn improve our ranges with interesting and cost effective pieces of furniture.

Below are images of the best products we have discovered during our visit. Keep an eye on our Furniture Friday e-mails and Product Focus articles for further exciting new arrivals.
