Design Insider’s Top Picks at CSI: What Not to Miss This Year

Cruise Ship Interiors Expo continues to grow not just in scale, but in depth. What was once a place to discover products has evolved into something more layered, a space for conversation, collaboration and a closer look at how cruise design is really being shaped. This year’s programme reflects that shift, with a series of activations designed to help visitors navigate the show more intentionally.

If you’re planning your time on the floor, here are a few moments worth building into your schedule.

Start with the Discovery Trail

With so much to see, the new Discovery Trail offers a more focused way to explore the event. Built into the show app, it guides visitors through key exhibitors, standout product launches and sustainability-led solutions, helping you prioritise without missing the detail.

There’s also a competitive edge. By scanning checkpoints and collecting points along the way, visitors can climb the leaderboard for the chance to win a cash prize. It’s a simple idea, but one that encourages deeper engagement with the show.

Explore the Sustainable Materials Library

Sustainability remains one of the most important conversations in cruise design, but finding the right materials can still feel complex. The Sustainable Materials Library, located in the Cruise & Ferry VIP Lounge, brings clarity to that process. Developed in partnership with Cruise & Ferry Interiors and the Sustainable Design Summit, the space brings together a curated selection of materials, from recycled and circular solutions to lightweight and certified options.

It’s less about theory and more about application. A chance to see, touch and compare materials in one place, and start thinking about how they might translate into real projects.

Step Inside the Design Deck

For a deeper look at how cruise interiors come together, the Design Deck offers something slightly different.

This curated space focuses on the studios behind the projects, giving visitors access to the thinking, process and detail that often sits behind the final result. Through visual displays and short talks, four leading design studios will share insights into how their work evolves from concept to completion. It’s a rare opportunity to move beyond finished spaces and understand the decisions that shape them.

Make Time for Something Unexpected

Alongside the more structured elements of the programme, there are moments designed simply to bring people together.

The Collage Art Workshop is one of them. Using surplus materials provided by exhibitors, VIP attendees and exhibitors are invited to create their own mood boards in a relaxed, collaborative setting. It’s informal, creative and a reminder that material exploration doesn’t always need to happen within the constraints of a brief.

Where to Find Our Members

Across the show floor, a number of Commercial Interiors UK members will also be exhibiting, each bringing their own expertise to the sector.

From material innovation to lighting and surface design, exhibitors including Agua Fabrics, Brintons Carpets, Chelsom, Ege Carpets and Muraspec represent the breadth of what goes into creating considered interiors at sea. Each offers a different perspective, but together they reflect the strength of the supply chain supporting cruise design today.

Cruise Ship Interiors Expo has always been about discovery, but this year feels more considered in how that discovery happens. Whether you’re exploring new materials, listening to designers unpack their process, or simply finding time to connect with others in the industry, the value of the event lies in how these moments come together. Because ultimately, it’s not just about what’s on display, it’s about the conversations that shape what comes next.
