Furniture Fusion: Regent’s University London

Bold colour and statement prints: a contemporary new look for a London University.

Furniture Fusion have been busy over the last 6 months beginning their installations for Regent’s University London. Set in London’s royal Regent’s Park, it’s a vibrant, cosmopolitan university and one of the most internationally diverse in the world. Furniture Fusion were approached by the university as they began planning a significant refurbishment of sites across the campus, and they were delighted to work with Studio DuFeu, whose designs have transformed the first of these locations.

REGENT’S UNIVERSITY LONDON – STUDENT LOUNGE

The Students’ Lounge is a space for Regent’s University students to meet, relax, work, and socialise – so the pieces they supplied had to be practical and hard-wearing, as well as looking the part.

Smart design makes the most of the space and shows how well contemporary furniture, bold colour and even bolder print can work in a heritage setting. High ceilings and a generously proportioned room are a perfect site for large pieces like their 3.5m L-shaped sofa – upholstered in beautiful burnt orange velvet fabric, it provides plenty of space for students to relax with friends or prepare for lectures.

The beauty of creating bespoke pieces is that Furniture Fusion can adjust upholstery, fillings, and fabrics to deliver furniture that will withstand high traffic and look good for years to come. The bespoke Lara chair looks fantastic in this Amelia Graham Riley fabric – a distinctive, striking shaped seat that works so well in this lounge.

In addition, the Claire bar stools work perfectly here – upholstered in a soft chalky pink fabric with wooden legs, they’re a practical choice and look great alongside the contemporary graphic wall covering and bold fabrics used on other pieces.

REGENT’S UNIVERSITY LONDON – FLEX ROOM

Bespoke design: creating a space to meet, work and think for a London university. High ceilings, parquet floor, marble fireplace and elegant velvet-upholstered furniture may look like a relaxing lounge in a country hotel, but this is actually part of the staff Flex Lounge at Regent’s University, London.

This calm, restful space gives academics a place to meet with colleagues and visitors, to prepare for classes, to work or read. Furniture Fusion supplied chairs with a retro feel which sit perfectly next to their bespoke round tables. They also created a bespoke task table, with built-in lighting offering a great place to prepare for lectures or write up research. The 3m long wooden top and A frame legs combine to create a streamlined piece that works so well in this beautiful room.

The Camelia lounge chair is used again here, upholstered in sage green fabric, and positioned alongside the Terp table. In addition, the Lillian chair looks fantastic in Sunbury Madison burnt orange velvet – the Furniture Fusion team loved the bold colour against the muted paintwork and soft lighting.

This area also includes a bespoke sofa, upholstered here in a stunning Amelia Graham Riley Sanctuary fabric. It’s a contemporary print which works so well in this space – contrastingly perfectly with the muted sage greens and wood flooring. The the graphic pattern sits comfortable next to the Camellia chairs, upholstered here in Gego Cadillac fabric, also from Sunbury Design.

REGENT’S UNIVERSITY LONDON – WELCOME LOUNGE

A great first impression: a new look for the Welcome Lounge at London’s cosmopolitan university.

The Welcome Lounge sets a striking first impression for visitors – it’s spacious and airy, and now comfortable and stylish too. The Furniture Fusion team supplied bespoke sofas, lounge chairs and marble-topped tables, upholstered in jewel-toned velvets which work perfectly with the dark paintwork and statement wall covering.

The bespoke Lara lounge chair looks fantastic in this beautiful ochre yellow velvet from Agua Fabrics – it’s a real statement piece that works brilliantly against the bold botanical wall covering.

Furniture Fusion supplied the elegant Camelia lounge chair in several iterations for this project – seen upholstered in a deep green velvet, with brass stud trim and brass feet to the wooden legs. It sits alongside their bespoke sofa and wooden table, creating an appealing spot to relax or for an informal meeting.

It was a pleasure to work with Studio DuFeu and Regent’s University on these installations and we’re looking forward to sharing the next stages as each is completed.
