Jamie’s Italian Adelaide – Craftwood Goes Down Under!

Insight

Challenged with designing a new restaurant for Jamie’s Italian international in Adelaide, MBDS were keen to work with a UK supplier on this particular project. This meant that the design for large elements such as banquettes needed to consider the logistics of transport and installation. Craftwood worked with MBDS and The Keystone Group to ensure that the seating could be almost fully assembled in the UK and then shipped. Meaning minimal installation times on site for TKG’s site contractor.

Site sizes were agreed with MBDS and TKG, and then Craftwood supplied their usual detailed drawings for approval before manufacture ensuring no unwanted surprises once on site.

GBS Freight Services then arranged the shipping on behalf of TKG to Adelaide, collecting from the Craftwood factory in Dorset.

The Solution

This large, light and airy building with high ceilings forms a distinguishing home for Jamie’s Adelaide. Its rectangular windows and roof lights creates an almost Art Deco feel to the venue.

The central fixed seating area consists of two large L-shaped seating runs, in a rich mustard coloured leather, with straight deep buttoned back booths backing onto them in a deep teal blue leather. The surrounding dwarf walls were by TKG’s Australian contractors.

A perimeter banquette, again in the mustard leather, is set against a beautiful timber panelled wall giving a traditional and cosy atmosphere to this area.

All the banquettes utilised Craftwoods’ sprung base seating chosen for extra comfort.

Additionally a Chesterfield style banquette was supplied in the side bar area in the same rich mustard leather as the other seating. Club-type chairs upholstered in burgundy mohair and quirky metal stools with green leather seats makes for a welcoming retreat to enjoy a pre or post dinner drink.

Results

As you can see from the images, the restaurant looks great and is certainly busy! Clearly a welcome addition for residents and visitors to Adelaide. Craftwood are delighted to have been involved with the project.

Since we shipped the seating, we have also supplied seating for Jamie’s in Brisbane which was installed November 2014.

Heather Baskerville, Sales Director at Craftwood, commented “We wish great success to the Keystone Group with Jamie’s Italian Adelaide! And we are looking forward to working with them again in the not too distant future”
