As part of a very special collaboration, the textiles of Danish American designer Jens Risom have been recreated for the first time. Global textile designer and manufacturer Camira have faithfully reimagined two fabrics, Zap and Armadillo, for today’s commercial interiors which will debut at Stockholm Furniture Fair 2019.
The original fabrics of the same name were designed and manufactured by Jens Risom in the 1960s, to complement the iconic furniture designs for which he is renowned. Paying homage to the colours, textures and tones of the original fabrics, Camira wanted to make Risom’s designs as relevant today as they were when they were first created.

Jens Risom was a Danish American designer of both furniture and textiles, making his name from the mid-century modern period and was one of the first to introduce Scandinavian design to the US. While numerous companies are producing his furniture, Camira is the first company to recreate his fabrics.
Designed by Risom. Reimagined by Camira.
Zap is a wool-rich dobby weave fabric with vibrant tone on tone or cross colour mixes, available in a mix of 30 zesty, poppy and vibrant colours. Armadillo is a wool and flax textured fabric available in 12 colourways. Both fabrics are engineered to meet modern standards for flammability, abrasion and light-fastness.
Designed to work together and separately, the two ranges bring new life to the uniquely exciting textile patterns of Jens Risom. Working closely with the Risom family and FORM Portfolios who manage the Risom legacy, Camira has been able to introduce these mid-century fabrics to a new audience in a new era.
Abigail Bomford, Creative Director at Camira, said of the landmark collaboration: “Reimagining the fabrics of a design icon has been an incredible project for Camira. Not only were they such intriguing textiles but, having lain forgotten for such a long time, there was a commitment from everybody involved to making sure that we did justice to this key part of Jens’ legacy.”
With his fabrics an often-forgotten element of the colourful, well-established Jens Risom story, Sven Risom, Jens’ youngest son, commented of the upcoming collaboration: “The first reintroduction of Jens’ textiles is with Camira and as a family we couldn’t be happier, Jens would be so honoured.”
The Camira | Jens Risom collaboration will launch globally and debut at Stockholm Furniture Fair, 5-9 February, on Camira’s stand A11:02.
