Bar and Restaurant: Prestigious Textiles

Prestigious Textiles have been involved in a new fit-out of a luxury restaurant, designed by Flamingo Interior Design. The Glass Curtain restaurant is set in the old Thompson Bakery, a historic space in Cork city centre which was once a culinary institution and part of the city’s DNA since 1826.

According to PT, the brief was to create a space where the culinary style was reflected in the interior, so raw meeting refined was one of the main themes throughout the overall design. This was executed with the use of luxurious velvet seating against old lime wash walls, polished brass accents meeting patinated copper accents and walnut finish furniture alongside rattan seating.

The client wanted to also cater to parties of all sizes, so the design featured a six-metre-long banquette seating on one side of the space with a scalloped detail covered in Prestigious Textiles’ Velour Indigo fabric. The banquette seating was custom made by John Drummond Furniture in Cork. This gave the client the flexibility to have various sized parties and it became one of the main focal points of the restaurant.

The scalloped detail in the seating was then echoed in the bar design, which had a walnut reeded profile. Over the banquette seating, a six-meter-long hanging planter was designed for draped greenery to accentuate the length of the fixed seating. This was custom made by Roche Metalworks in Cork.
