There are 40 colours in Camira’s new Upland collection, which feels rather generous until you’re actually asked to choose between them.⁠
⁠
Raw, earthy neutrals. Burnt oranges and deep aubergines. Soft blush. Sunshine yellow. Greens that somehow feel both fresh and familiar. And then an entire spectrum of blues, from crisp and cool to deeply saturated teal. ⁠
⁠
The inspiration comes from the Yorkshire landscape surrounding Camira’s headquarters, and you can see it. Not in an overly literal way, but in the shifting, layered colour and beautifully soft, wool-like texture.⁠
⁠
Except, here’s the clever bit: Upland isn’t wool. It’s a high-performance synthetic textile, designed for the realities of busy commercial interiors and made by Camira from yarn to finished fabric.⁠

Perhaps we need to stop thinking of accessible bathrooms as a separate category altogether.⁠
⁠
After all, a threshold-free shower, wider opening or easy-to-operate panel can make life easier for someone with reduced mobility, an older person wanting to remain independent, someone recovering from surgery or simply a household thinking ahead.⁠
⁠
And none of it needs to look like an adaptation.⁠
⁠
We spoke with David Osborne, CEO of Roman, about why accessible bathroom design is moving firmly into the mainstream and how designers and retailers can create spaces that quietly remove barriers without compromising on how they look or feel.⁠
⁠
Perhaps the bigger question is this: should accessibility simply be the starting point for good bathroom design?⁠

It’s the carbon footprint of the backing alone on Balsan’s new Lift Up carpet tile collection, thanks to the debut of BioBack, a new low-carbon backing system made with 88% biogenic carbon derived from wood.⁠
⁠
But here’s what makes this interesting for designers: the sustainability story hasn’t come at the expense of how the collection actually looks or performs.⁠
⁠
Twelve colourways. An organic pattern inspired by the meeting point between architecture and nature. Random installation that means every project can take on its own character. And a glue-free system designed to make future change easier.⁠

What happens when an experienced design team is given permission to forget the brief and simply play?⁠
⁠
Studio Play is the new commercial carpet collection from Brintons, born from a series of creative workshops where experimentation comes first and design follows.⁠
⁠
For Series One, the team worked freely with fluid acrylic inks, layering, responding and creating without pressure. The unexpected results have now been translated into expressive carpet designs that bring an artisan quality to high-traffic hospitality, retail and corporate interiors.⁠
⁠
And this is just the beginning. With Gelli printing next on the agenda, Studio Play is set to continue exploring what can happen when designers are given the freedom to create first and design later.⁠
