Wilton Carpet Delivers Serenity with Contemporary New Palette
Wilton Carpets introduce a brand new axminster collection, woven in our contemporary new palette, Serenity.
The designs curated in this brochure are beautifully expressive of the natural world. Floral and leaf motifs, geological features and watermarks inspire this collection of sophisticated stratified designs, woven in earthy, natural tones and dreamy pastels.

Serenity Colour
Originating this new palette, our design studio consulted with Justine Fox, a leader in colour, and expert in applied colour psychology, colour insights and ergonomics. Pairing market research, and insight into the shift expected to impact the hospitality & leisure industries, the Serenity palette is 12 beautiful, complimentary shades which will be the frame work for inspiring designs and colourways over the next decade.
Our colour direction for Darks comes from deep earth. These smoked organics have a softness that is easily translated across different interiors and the depth to ground a space making them infinitely more usable. We have focused on the blended transitions in west coast stones like basalt and slate along with saturated earthy hues based in the flora and fauna of the UK’s wild nature.
The colour direction for Mid tones takes inspiration from developments in bio-fabrication for the design industry. Key materials including Mycelium and Algae are explored, uncovering a plethora of softly comforting coloured naturals.
For the Lights inspiration came from the luxury end of the hospitality and residential markets, taking flooring to tinted neutrals with the quality to reflect daylight. Colour pointers play in warm gentle contrast, balancing hazy minks and golden sands to create a magical relaxed palette.
Focusing on lighter more illuminating tints not only creates a sense of spaciousness and openness to design, but psychologically lifts our mood, bringing a sense of clarity and peace. The soft undertones through this palette add a calming welcome to the colours, giving hospitality a feeling of genuine friendliness and enhanced positivity.
Serenity Design
Showcasing quite a variety of design flavour, this collection is a significant departure from much of we’ve produced before, evidence of the unconventional origin point for this collection:
“This collection actually started life as a painting I did during lockdown.” Recalls Sam Dean, Senior Designer for Wilton. “It was a difficult time when I couldn’t be creative at work, so that passion found different outlets. The piece I created became the theme for the ground for these designs. The rest of the team have had a creative input on designs and colourways, and it was great collaborating on a collection that is so different from anything we’ve done before, especially only the second one in our new palette.”
