Future design with Camira’s first Transport Design Directions

This month Design Insider is focused on hospitality but we have deviated slightly to look at the new ways in which Camira is looking after your comfort whilst you travel by bus.  Global textile innovator, Camira, has launched its first Transport Design Directions guide developed specifically for bus and coach interiors. Camira provides thoughts, solutions and applications for translating key design concepts for 2018 and beyond.

Trend directions and design development influence the use of colour, pattern and texture, and this working tool identifies future design concepts that focus on improving the passenger experience. Transport Design Directions features three themes to spark new ideas for future interior transport schemes and bridges the gap between creativity and practical solutions, offering combinations of fabric finishes and materials.

The three leading design themes: Soft Gradations, Tactile Illusions and Colour Experience bring different concepts and innovative ideas, combining textures, materials and colours while showcasing the latest fabrics from Camira. The guide thinks about a transport interior as a whole and not just how the upholstery fabrics might work, but how all the materials work together.

Ciara Crossan, Design Manager for Transport at Camira, commented:

“This is a first for Camira and a really exciting step for the bus and coach market. The Design Directions guide has been developed and researched by our product development team, alongside trend consultant Sally Angharad, and provides a resource for our customers when thinking about a new bus or coach interior design.

We have carefully curated these themes, taking inspiration from everything around us and then applying it by offering practical solutions which can bring the theme to life in transport.”

Transport Design Directions features Camira’s stocked ranges including moquette, flat-woven, vinyl and leather as well as made to order capabilities, showing its newest collection of wire-woven fabrics.

All Wired up

Wired is Camira’s new made to order collection of performance upholstery fabric with intricate detail, created through different surface textures and weaving techniques.

Using different constructions of cut and loop moquette, the designs in Wired create a transport upholstery which combines both unique aesthetics and high performance. As a made to order collection with 17 patterns to choose from, the design effects span illusory, graduated and delicate dappling to set a tone of poise and refinement.

Wired meets all international bus and coach flammability standards, including the new European Flammability Regulation 118.02, and was awarded the Busworld 2017 Innovation Label.
