2017 Trend predictions!

As we enter 2017 we explore the differing and developing trends within the design industry. Design Insider have already discovered optical illusions with Ege Carpets and we enjoyed an in depth trend report by Camira.

With the BCFA Open quickly approaching, we challenged our exhibitors to choose one word to sum up their 2017 trend predictions.

Adore-Kobe's-Boutique-collection-1-web

Kobe BOUTIQUE – ‘Vibrant colours and designs are ready to take-off for 2017.’

Camira INSIGHT– ‘An instance of apprehending the true nature of a thing, especially through intuitive understanding’. This captures the essence of Camira’s Global Trend Directions 2017/18, which explore four trends for the coming year.

Newmor-Textures-web

Newmor TEXTURE – ‘From chunky organic textures, textile effects and architectural surfaces to bold geometric embosses, quilted finishes and large scale designs for wallcoverings, furnishings, fabrics, flooring, packaging and accessories.’

Edmund-Bell--IMG_8559-web

Edmund Bell TEXTURE – ‘Texture juxtaposes the unexpected where we see mixtures of smooth and rough surfaces captured in all aspects of 2 and 3-D design.  Textures are easy to use and carefully considered will be brave enough to stand the test of time.’

Astro-web

Astro Lighting INTERACTIVE – ‘The ‘internet of things’ is gaining ground very quickly, especially in lighting. Lighting control technology that was preserved for high end residential, commercial and hospitality schemes will become more and more common place in 2017.’

Roca-Trend-Bespoke-web

Roca BESPOKE – ‘Within the world of bathrooms the opportunity to fully customise a bathroom space without the restriction to creative flare is now a true offering!’

Taylors-Classics-Painted-arm-web

Taylors Classics DECORATION – ‘Our experience is that clients are seeking to add some form of decoration to an otherwise plain piece of furniture. It could be adding brass or chrome to the edge of a table, gilding or branding some timber or adding decorative beading to upholstered furniture. Our experience seems to suggest that the move is away from more minimalist look of recent years.’

Anthology_2015

Style Library Contracts INDIVIDUALITY – ‘Whether it’s a recolour of an existing design or developing something completely new, with Style Library Contract clients have the creative freedom to curate products that are uniquely theirs.’
