Set within a contemporary ‘Arts & Crafts’ environment, The Bothy restaurant is the centrepiece of the new extension at Wentworth Garden Centre. It is situated in 16 acres of the former walled kitchen, Italian and Japanese gardens of Wentworth Woodhouse.
When designing the new venue, proprietor David Airey sought to create a relaxed, lived-in feel for The Bothy, opting for Amtico Signature LVT for its noise-reducing qualities over ceramic tiles. Influenced by Victorian glasshouse-style flooring, David was introduced to Amtico’s in-house design team, by flooring contractor Contract Floors (Sheffield) Ltd, to develop his ideas into a timeless, high-end scheme featuring four patterns from the Designers’ Choice collection.
Amtico Signature was used throughout the restaurant, linking the ‘Arts & Crafts’ aesthetic between the entrance, bar and seating areas. In order to create zones within the space, different Designers’ Choice patterns were laid in the seating and bar areas, framed with a co-ordinating border and elegant stripping in bronze.
The second dining space, located off the main seating area, features a blend of amethyst hues and stone textures with DC175 Plaza. This provides a beautiful contrast to the classic oak tones of DC320 Versailles, while the bold geometry of the two patterns effortlessly zones the space.
Amtico Signature is a unique palette of colours and shapes to create inspiring flooring design. This sophisticated collection combines original palettes, distinctive patterns and stunning details. The design-led, high-performance LVT products have a total thickness of 2.5mm and a 1mm wear layer. Signature Products also carry a 20-year warranty.
Designers’ Choice is a collection of beautiful flooring created by the Amtico in-house design team. The collection includes an eye-catching selection of predefined, ready-to-use product combinations across 20 laying patterns. The Bothy effortlessly combines four designs, with each pattern defining different seating areas within the restaurant.
“We’ve had an ongoing working relationship with Wentworth Garden Centre as it has expanded over many years. Most recently, they decided to build a new restaurant, with the main construction carried out by Foers Contracts Ltd of Rotherham, whom we also work closely with. When David Airey spoke of installing an LVT floor in the new restaurant, we didn’t hesitate introducing him to the design team at Amtico to select the design and colourways. We are proud to have carried out such a prestigious installation.” – Stephen C. Povey, Managing Director, Contract Floors (Sheffield) Ltd
“Amtico’s vast range of finish options and complementing border details made for an easy choice in achieving our desired look. Amtico’s in-house design team took our initial input and developed a timeless, high-end scheme that we feel speaks for itself. We chose LVT as our preferred flooring for its aesthetic appeal, coupled with the noise reducing qualities over ceramic tiles, as we sought to create a relaxed, lived-in feel.” – David Airey, Proprietor, Wentworth Garden Centre
