Benchairs 800 by Taylor’s Classics

Taylor’s Classics re-introduced the ever popular Benchairs furniture collection to the hospitality market in 2015 as part of its philosophy to offer great examples of furniture design from the golden eras of British furniture manufacture.

The Benchairs collection typified the 1950’s and 1960’s desire for simple yet practical furniture, in this case manufactured specifically for the restaurants, bars and hotels.IMG_1380 webFollowing the success of the Benchairs launch Taylor’s Classics decided to develop additional designs which maintained the flavour of the original furniture but also met the needs of the current market. Wayne Winterburn, the in-house designer, was commissioned to develop new and larger chairs suitable for reception, lounge and bedroom areas.

“I was delighted to work on this project as the original designs represent one of my favourite periods. As a student I was influenced by Robin Day as well as Charles and Ray Eames so the techniques that we have used in the manufacture of the Benchairs 800 chair remain true to the 1950’s production”
