Contract Chair Co. – Mercure Newbury Hotel

Tasteful Design

Contract Chair Co. latest major Hotel refurbishment project has been the result of their long standing relationship with Helen Hooper Design and Jupiter Hotels.

Mercure Newbury Elcot Park Hotel is a country retreat developed in a Georgian Manor house. Surrounded by 16 acres of landscaped garden, this property was once owned by the family of Percy Shelley, a famous poet of early 19 century. The hotel at the moment houses 73 bedrooms, wedding & banqueting suite, conference centre, orangery bar and restaurant overlooking picturesque Kennet Valley.

The tasteful design concept developed by Helen Hooper has provided a big challenge for Contract Chair Co. which they love to take on. They provided furniture for the Lounge, bar, event room, library, reception and of course the Orangery. The outcome is evident below:

Lounge furniture specified included bespoke sofas and pouffes, Isotta and Dakota Lounge chairs, Luis Miguel Sofa, scatter cushions and bespoke tables. The combination of the fabrics and finishes used to upholster the chairs and the focus on comfort has created an incredibly welcoming atmosphere.

Desiree Barstools supplied for the bar area, complement the slightly modest, but classy feeling of this area.

The Ultras Side Chair and bespoke room dividers used to decorate the event room have been selected with practicality and durability in mind, but as you see below the luxurious feeling has been kept and enhanced.

The Orangery, perhaps the most iconic area of this hotel has been supplied with our medallion back A-0951 and Kim side chairs as well as Berlino Table Bases and Character Oak Table Tops.
