Educate yourself in designing for Education

Leading floor covering designer and manufacturer Milliken will be hosting a diverse mix of events at Clerkenwell Design Week intended to inspire, inform and entertain. All events will take place in Milliken’s Clerkenwell showroom at 5 Berry Street, London EC1V 0AA.

Getting things started on Tuesday 23rd May

From 12.00 until 13.00 will be Katie Treggiden, independent design journalist and founding editor of the award winning blog: Confessions of a Design Geek. Katie will provide a top-line de-brief from Milan Design Week followed by a Q&A session.

From 18.00 on Tuesday 23rd May Katie Treggiden will chair a panel debate ‘Design in Education’ with Jay Osgerby of Barber Osgerby, Crafts Council Director Annie Warburton and Professor Andrew Brewerton, Principal of Plymouth College of Art.

Wednesday 24th May

From 14.00 until 16.00 join artist and illustrator Bloody (Jack) Bishop for a satirical take on portraiture. The premise for this pen, ink and watercolour workshop: admit we can’t draw and let the accidents happen.

Wednesday night will be club night at Milliken, with DJs, including a set from Pam Hogg, legendary fashion designer and DJ. Also featuring one of Hed Kandi’s resident DJs Phoebe D’Abo

On Thursday 25th May

Fashion Drawing Milliken CDW resizeDrop into one of two practical fashion illustration sessions (starting 12.30 and 15.00) with London College of Fashion’s Ana Stankovic-Fitzgerald who will lead practical sessions exploring fashion drawing styles and techniques. This dynamic workshop will address drawing the figure and garments from life and sketching for fashion.
