UK COMPANIES TRIUMPH AT BDNY

BDNY, the leading trade fair and conference for the hospitality and leisure design industry on the Eastern seaboard of the USA, closed its doors after a stupendously successful two day run in mid-November. Ranked as the fastest growing trade fair in the United States, BDNY brings together leaders from all sectors of the hospitality design community to explore what’s new and what’s next. Over 600 exhibitors filled more than 80,000 net square feet of the Javits Convention Centre in Hudson Yards, New York.

Out of a total of fourteen British companies who attended the show, eleven of them were members of the BCFA – Agua Fabrics, Astro, Chapel Street, Chelsom, Evans Textiles/William Clark, Lincrusta, Sunbury Design, Sekers Fabrics, Style Library, Trevira and Whistler Leather. Other exhibiting companies were Capital Garden Products, Indian Ocean Trading Company, Innermost and Trowbridge.

The outstanding quality of the UK products was recognised by attending specifiers and designers who literally overwhelmed the British stands with enquiries right from the opening to the close of the show.earthed webEarthed by William Clark were delighted to win a Show Best Product Award for their “Faded Grandeur” (Latobius colourway) fabric.

Following a first attendance at the show in 2016, BCFA, in conjunction with the UK Department of International Trade, facilitated a UK Group Pavilion, which had a prime site at the front of the halls. A DIT funded traditional “English Tea Party” held on the BCFA stand in the UK Pavilion added to the excitement at the show, and the British companies left looking forward to return in 2018 to build on their success.tea party webNow in its eighth year, this prestigious show has more than doubled in size to reflect the growth of the US hospitality market. Exhibiting at BDNY must be viewed as part of a long-term strategy to develop the US market and for those companies willing to make this investment, this event will play a crucial part in developing brand awareness and in developing delivery channels in the US.

The BCFA will be once again be offering booths in a UK Pavilion to members in at BDNY 2018 which takes place on 11th and 12th November.
